This beautiful framed and glazed print is taken from a 2021 ink original and features a St David's Day Blessing in uncial (Celtic) calligraphy, surrounded by knotwork and headed by the Red Dragon - the Welsh flag.
It would make a special gift for anyone who holds Cymru close to their heart or indeed to celebrate St David's Day (1st March), Christmas, a birthday, a baptism or a new home.
'St David's Day Blessing' is available in the following formats:
- as an original artwork
- as a limited edition
- as an A4 framed print (white pine)
- as an A5 greeting card.
The back of the A5 greeting card reads:
'Cymru is the Celtic name for Wales, a country of mountains and valleys, monasteries and waterfalls, saints and song; an oasis of Christianity during the pagan onslaught that ensued after the fall of the Roman Empire. A country of saints like David, Non and Illtud and warriors like Arthur, Cerdigion and Llywellyn . As someone who is passionate about history, heritage and art, I wanted to create something of beauty to honour Cymru. Hopefully this does the job.
Originally from the northern port of Whitby, Anthony Hodgson has lived in West Norwood, South London since 2002. He believes passionately that we were made to live life to the full and his mission is to help folk see this, through art. As well as being an artist he is also a musician and poet and has hosted events around the UK.'
The printing is done at the Southside Rehabilitation Association (SRA) which helps to rehabilitate folk recovering from mental health issues into the workplace. Every print bought supports the SRA in their work.
The A4 white pine frame is bought at the local A & S HomeCare store which sources them from The Ready Made Picture Frame Company workshop in Basingstoke, 55 miles from Abundare. This is important to Abundare for two reasons: one, each sale supports local business and two, because of its close proximity, Abundare's carbon footprint is much reduced.
