Jarrow

 

Although more famous for its courageous protest march of 1936, Jarrow was also home to the Venerable Bede, the 'Father of English History'. A teacher, writer, scholar, linguist, translator and astronomer, it was Bede who gave us the priceless 'Ecclesiastical History of the English People. Jarrow Hall houses the Bede Museum as well as a fascimile of the Codex Amiatinus, the oldest complete Latin Bible. To learn more read here.
